June 2026 Newsletter
Hello Church Family,
As with previous months this year, May had a mix of joy and grief. On the one hand, I was saddened by the loss of Hank Shuman early in the month, and it was my privilege to officiate his funeral. There was a pretty large group of attendees at his service, and his impact on his family and friends was very evident. On the other hand, my family celebrated Celeste’s law school graduation, her birthday, and Pierce’s 2nd birthday. My friend David did an excellent job filling the pulpit for me while I was in Indianapolis for Celeste’s graduation ceremony, and many of you shared your congratulations with Celeste. Your love and support for our family was greatly appreciated. I find great comfort in the fact that Pierce has a church family he gets to see each week who welcomes and finds joy in him.
As we are entering the summer months, I know that some of our church members will be travelling to their summer homes or going on vacation, so our church schedule is more flexible this time of year. However, we do have some exciting opportunities to look forward to in June. On June 21st and 28th, we will be having guest speakers coming in for our worship services. On the 21st, the leader of Mission India will be sharing updates about their church planting efforts overseas. On the 28th, Simon and Nancy Warwick will be sharing about their bible translation work with Wycliffe Bible Translators. If you are in town on those weeks, make sure to join us for worship and here about God’s work around the world. We also have a LifeWise Academy community event planned for June 23rd at 6:30pm. It will be another Community 101 event, where parents or other members of the school district and come to the church and learn more about LifeWise. We hosted one in January right before the program started, and we are hoping that this second event will boost enrollment for the 2026-2027 school year. If any of you are interested in volunteering and would like to meet the program director and other board members, this event would be a great opportunity to learn more.
Happy summer UBC! I look forward to worshipping with you in the coming weeks. May God’s blessing go with you this month.
